First woman in the hip hop market of the federal capital, the Brazilian Vera Verônika strengthens the musical scene of the Federal District 25 years ago with songs that reflect social and feminine issues. With a look at the women inmates and their process of resocialization, she launches the single “Without Power to Fly”. The video integrates the DVD “Vera Verônika 25 years” and now comes to YouTube and digital music platforms.
The artist has always used her music as a platform to discuss social issues. Rapper, composer, maintainer of children’s shelter, pedagogue, entrepreneur and consultant in the causes of Human Rights, Vera Verônika has always been many women and was inspired by many others. Telling the story of a woman and her anguishes lived inside a penitentiary, the song “No power to fly” addresses the disappointment and frustration that the choices that culminated in crime provide to several women.
“This music was born from the stories heard in my workshops at the women’s prisons I visited in my artistic career in the Federal District, Goiás and São Paulo.
